The View From Here is composed from a vantage point, looking east toward the Perth city skyline, beneath the original fountains under the forecourt of Parliament House. The perspective aligns directly with St Georges Terrace, which can be glimpsed through the opening of the Barracks Arch. On the far right edge of the canvas, the final glimmer of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) is visible.

The city skyline is framed by the manicured gardens of Parliament House, reflecting an enduring civic aspiration toward beauty, order, and the vision of Perth as a garden city. The work conveys a mood of optimism and growth, acknowledging Parliament’s ongoing responsibility to serve and represent the broader Western Australian community.
